Department Overview

Established during 2016-2017, the Department of Physiology at the NIMRA Institute of Medical Sciences, Teaching Hospital & Research Center (NIMS) is led by a devoted team of faculty members equipped with excellent teaching resources. The department offers a comprehensive blend of theoretical and practical training, fostering robust instructional learning. Regular symposia, seminars, and journal clubs provide a dynamic platform for intellectual exchange. The implementation of vertical and horizontal teaching methodologies, coupled with early clinical exposure, cultivates critical thinking and deeper understanding among students in the pre-clinical phase.

Curriculum

Undergraduate students receive a solid foundation in Physiology, driven by a Competency-Based Medical Education framework. This includes engaging lectures, small group discussions, and integrated vertical and horizontal teaching methodologies, enhanced by practical sessions. Moreover, students gain early exposure to hospital environments during the pre-clinical phase, nurturing essential skills such as attitudes, ethics, communication, and basic clinical competencies.
